- Start by determining approximately how much time you'll need to devote to academics. The general rule-of-thumb is that for each credit hour of class time, you'll need to spend two hours outside of class studying (Chronicle of Higher Education). Be sure you have enough time to complete your coursework and manage your other responsibilities (work, family).
- Review all of your course syllabi! The syllabus is a contract between you and the instructor, which typically lists required texts, due dates, instructor contact information, the course schedule and other pertinent information about the course.
- Become a master at time management! Check out the video below to learn more about using Google Calendar as a time management tool
- Discussion Questions: How many 3-credit classes do you think you can fit into your schedule? What other aspects of your life might you have to adjust in order to be successful in college? Write your response in the comments and respond to your classmates with any suggestions you have for them.
This course is intended to help military spouses thinking about pursuing their first college degree. It will help spouses explore career options and make informed decisions on their educational choices.
